The Super Bowl has come and gone and after an eventful week it feels like it’s been a lifetime since Malcolm Butler caught a last minute interference and added another ring to Tom Brady’s hand. But for those of us less interested in the game and more into the 7-layer dip, this year’s ads are still circulating for personal [and brands’] viewing pleasure.
In today’s weekly wrap up, we share our favorite Super Bowl spots and highlight the brands that were able to craft the strongest messaging. Ads that reflected the audience to whom they were served added a measurable lift after the ads aired. That’s data doing the work!
So without further ado:
Always
Go Daddy
Budweiser
Brands that directed their messaging to connect with their core audience seemed to achieve the greatest lift after the game. Budweiser did a fabulous job involving the audience with their pac-man spot, but fell flat with the “Brewed The Hard Way” campaign, which has since been the focus of media criticism and accused of alienating a key audience. In order for brands to make the most of high value ad placement, it will be imperative for them to let data-driven audience intelligence inform their strategy rather than simply taking a leap of faith.
