“What’s it Like to Work at People Pattern?”

“What’s it Like to Work at People Pattern?”

I recently spoke at the Social Media Club Austin September event, and covered the history of marketing and communications. I addressed how the past has led us to the present; that is, the need for audience insights to drive personalized consumer experience.

Following the presentation, most of the attendees seemed to take interest in two things: what it’s like to work at People Pattern, and the case for personalization in marketing.

I’ll address the latter in a follow-up blog post tomorrow. To address the former, I’ll start by saying this is not my first foray into software or B2B companies. However, something about People Pattern is very different.

I have already been taken aback by the collaboration–the office is not “noisy”, but people actually have meaningful conversations out in the open, which breeds something really cool. It gives employees knowledge across job functions, leading to a sense of ownership and business intelligence. And ultimately feeling ownership in a company is hugely influential in job productivity and happiness.

In the same vein as collaboration, the amount of emails I have not received has surprised me – in the best sense of the word. It’s not because people don’t have questions or comments – it’s quite the opposite. But it goes back to the first point: extreme openness and collaboration, whether it is in-person conversations or by way of an internal collaboration system.

They say that the funniest people are the smartest ones–and there is a lot of laughter here. I’m in constant amazement by the collective intelligence, specifically from our data science team. They are executing true data science, with trained academics sitting at the helm, studying natural language processing and applying machine-learned algorithms – very, very advanced stuff that is frankly mind blowing.

I have yet to come across a person here who doesn’t love their job and give it their all every day. And that is hard to find. It comes from people who feel invested in a company, and wake up every day empowered to do their jobs better, driven from the top down.

And yes, we do have a very cool office space.

If you are interested in working at People Pattern, we are hiring across many functions. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, or check out the platform in action by requesting a demo.
